HOW CAN THE SOCIAL WORKER HELP?

- Referral to local service providers
Most often this assistance comes in the form of 1:1 meetings. However, small groups, family meetings and home visits are also an option.CONFIDENTIALITY is essential. The school social worker will respect your privacy related to communication with others (i.e. peers, staff, family members). If you are a student who receives counseling support outside of school, communication with this person may only occur with a signed RELEASE OF INFORMATION FORM in place. The only exception to this confidentiality standard is communication that includes imminent risk of harm to yourself or others (i.e. self-harm and/or suicide, credible threats of harm to another or high-risk substance use behavior that represents a significant personal safety risk).
